# Bulk discount codes for Shopify

> Bulk codes are many different codes that share the same discount rules—useful for influencers, mailings, or one code per customer. Set Bulk codes as the discount method when you create or edit a discount (not Automatic or a single code). Generate or paste a list, export, and view codes in Shopify.

## Quick facts

  * **Enter manually** — paste **one code per line**.
  * Large batches may run in the **background**; wait until the app shows **finished** before you rely on export.
  * **View all codes** in Shopify Admin or **export** for a spreadsheet or CRM.

## Open bulk codes on a discount

    **Apps** → **Smarty Discounts**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create or open">
    **Create discount** → pick **type** → choose **Bulk codes**, **or** open an existing discount and switch the method to **Bulk codes** where allowed.

    **Save** so Shopify has a discount record and Smarty can attach codes.

You must use the **Bulk codes** method to see the generator (not Automatic or a single **Discount code**).

## Generation mode

| Mode                       | Use when                                              |
| -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Generate automatically** | Smarty should create random codes for you.            |
| **Enter manually**         | You already have a list (spreadsheet, partner, etc.). |

## Automatic generation

    **Allowed characters** — letters and numbers, letters only, or numbers only

    Run **Generate Codes** (or the primary action with the same meaning). If the app warns that **leaving the page** can stop a running job, stay until it finishes.

## Manual list

    Start generation the same way as automatic.

Invalid or duplicate lines may be skipped; the app may show how many could not be added.

## Progress and history

**Recent code generation** (or similar) shows **Status**, **Progress**, **Started**. **Cancel**, **Retry**, or **Resume** when offered. When complete, codes should show as ready, with a link to **view** them.

## View in Shopify and export

## Add more codes later

For the same discount, use **Set up new codes** / **Generate more codes** when shown — subject to your **plan** and any limits in the app.
